So I have been busy in my art studio at JCCA working on my art projects. I have been experimenting with copper sheets a lot, developing a method to ‘paint’ it using heating/cooling process combined with ‘directed’ oxidation using my own organic mixtures. I have been photographing the pieces at various stages and the results form the base for my new Metalese Paper Pack Series. I have two packs at Studio Ztampf! right now, the newest was just released several hours ago it is so fresh! Take a look:
I created the Elemental 101 Accents Pack as a basic element kit with assorted items that you would need in creating layouts. It’s the end of March, when cheerful Spring time is supposed to replace the cold winter. Alas, in many parts of the world, mine included, winter is so persistent to stay longer than usual. But every winter must end, and spring is finally coming! You can just stop nature…
Earlier this month though, nature brought a catastrophe at unbelievable scale to the resilient people in Japan. So many lives destroyed within minutes and the aftermath brought utterly terrible suffering, made even much worse by man made nuclear disaster. It’s just beyond believe – and my heart goes out to them. You can make donations to help them through some reliable organizations. Remember: Every little bit counts!

Inspirations can be found anywhere, and it could motivate us in our daily life. Two weeks ago, a day after the tsunami that has smashed Japan, I bought a stem of flower. It has white small blossoms with very faint fragrance – barely registered. But it looked so pretty and dainty on its thick sturdy green stem. I just fell in love with it. It was HK$18 – or about US$2.30; not cheap for a single stem, but it is definitely worth it!
Watching the buds growing and blossoming somehow gives me hopes for Japan. Somehow, this little flower became a symbol of hope for Japan for me. It is called Ornithogalum. Every day, I watched the little buds getting bigger and then blossomed into pretty little white flowers. When I first got it, there was just one full blossom with another one was in progress. The following days, more buds were blossoming. It keeps on blossoming after 2 weeks now! Pretty amazing eh. And it’s so pretty too. Notice how the buds on the top were growing and then blossoming while the first blooms are now shrivelling down. Regeneration. Life prevails. Life goes on. There is hope. Always.

Wow, 2010 is almost half-way through! How time flies! I hope it’s been a good first half-year for you all! And I wish you an even better half. These days everybody seems to be on Facebook. Are you? Have you been to Ztampf!@ Facebook lately? Please help spread the word to have all Ztampf!lovers to join there! The Exclusive Mini Kit itself will be revealed next month! I have been participating in quite a few collaboration projects recently. One of them is a very exciting project that will be revealed on June 21st – if everything goes according to schedule. Some elements used in this newsletter are taken from this project. Can you guess which one? You will get to hear all about it in the Part 2 of this newsletter which I will publish as soon as possible. I also have a couple of BRAND NEW products in the store! More on this below. Another collab project that I’m participating in will also be revealed later around that week. Depending on when exactly it is revealed, I will update you through Twitter and Facebook. So stay tuned! And then there is the “Bring On The Music” – organized by Studio Mgl to help raising some fund to gift a keyboard to her best friend who is a talented and struggling musician, badly in need of a decent keyboard to be able to continue with his work. I love music, I love working while listening to music. As an artist who often struggling myself, I am more than happy to support the cause. Why don’t you check out the kit – it is a great kit packed with cool music-related stuff with many designers participating!
