It’s been a busy time here with the girls visiting. They are now officially teenagers! Woohooo…! This is their 6th time visiting Hong Kong now – and they’re itching to do something different. One of the things that they still enjoy doing is of course: shopping! Another thing that we can do now that I have a proper studio is to make things together! They want to get a CIAK sketch book with black cover to customize with stamps etc. as I did mine. We’ll do it this weekend!

Today they went to Ocean Park with their cousins. I stayed home to get some work done – and I got a terrible headache too! Ugh! I’ve got the report from their father via SMS that they’re having fun with the scary rides! Yeehaaa…!

Now, I’d like to share more pictures from the CIAK event taken by the CIAK people themselves: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=5187&l=ddb75&id=611087724

There you can see other designers’ beautiful and interesting work ranging from action-figure designs to handbags to dolls, etc. Check it out! It’s quite inspiring!

It was Mid-Autumn Festival on the 25th. It’s been raining, cloudy and hazy for days… Fortunately, the sky cleared up by late afternoon as if by magic and the majestic moon climbed up the sky beautifully! We went down to the Plaza and the beach where people were celebrating the festival. Everyone had Glo-in-the-dark sticks – it was quite a pretty sight! Too bad I didn’t bring my tripod with me so the photos are not so great.

Oooh… and there’s another thing I’d like to share here! T baked a traditional Irish brown bread for the first time! Well, this was the first time he ever bake anything! Look… itsn’t lovely? It tasted good too! Next he’ll have to learn how to make the perfect merengue for me ;). Cripsy on the outside and chewy-soft in the inside!

What is CIAK?

CIAK is a brand of handmade notebooks from Italy. They have nice leather cover with practical elastic closure. You can see their range of wonderful products at their website.

I was among the 19 artists/designers invited to participate in the CIAK Asia Tour Exhibition: ‘Create’ – Ideas Are Meant To Be Realized. Each artist/designer is given a CIAK notebook of their choice to use to sketch ideas. This notebook is then displayed in the exhibition along with a sample of the artist/designer’s finished work/products. The opening was on the 20th of September at LOG ON, Festival Walk in Kowloon and I attended it. It was fun and interesting to see how others used their CIAK notebooks.

I customized mine by adding a handle that I made using a thick gross-grained ribbon. I then stamped and heat-embossed the cover with Ztampf! ClearStamps images. I rubbed stamping ink in several different colors directly on the leather to create a nuance of colors and I really like the way it turned out. Inside, I drew some sketches to show how the ideas for some of Ztampf! products were formed and developed. Print out of some Ztampf! products are displayed alongside my CIAK notebook.

There are artists/designers from Japan, US, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. I got to talk to 2 of them, both are from Hong Kong. One is Carrie Chau, a famous illustrator and the other is May King, a fashion/bag designer. There are quite a lot of action-figure designers too!

I will post some more pictures later!

As you might have noticed, Ztampfest Gallery is using a different script than those of Photopost generally used in most forums. As a lot of people are not familiar with this type of gallery, I decided to share some tips and tricks on using the gallery here.

First of all, did you know that you can easily and quickly navigate the Ztampfest Gallery through the navigation panel on the left? Well, on the left panel right under the Ztampfest Gallery title, you’d see ‘Expand’ and ‘Collapse’. Just click on the ‘Expand’ and a navigation ‘tree’ will appear, which makes it very easy for you to jump from one gallery to another!

Click on either the + or sign on the left side of each Album to expand or collapse the navigation tree. Try it out! I think it’s a pretty cool and useful feature!

Next, with the new updated script recently, for the first time now certain Albums in the Ztampfest Gallery are open to the registered users. This means they are given access to upload, edit and delete their own layouts.

Which Albums are open? They are: the Ztampfellas Album & Weekly Challenges Albums!

So how to upload your layouts there? Here’s how:

First of all, you have to be a registered user at Ztampfest and the size of your file should not exceed 125KB, nor larger than 600×600 dpi. Ready? Then make sure you are logged in and follow these steps:

  1. 1. Locate the Album where you wish to upload your layouts to (i.e. Ztampfellas Album
    or Weekly Challenges’ Albums).
    2. On the Album page, under ‘album actions’ on the left bar click ‘Add Items’.
    3. In the page that appears, under the tab ‘From Web Browser’ click ‘Choose File’ and locate the file you wish to upload from your hard-drive.
    4. Type in the title of your layout in the ‘Caption’ field.
    5. Add more files as you wish.
    6. Scroll down until you find:
Set item titles from:___ please choose ‘Caption’
Assign caption to:___ please UN-check BOTH options
    7. Leave the ‘Create Thumbnails Now’ Checked as it is.
    8. Click the ‘Add Items’ button.
    9. On the following page that appears, click on the title of the layout you want to add detailed information to.
10 Click ‘Edit Photo’ under the ‘Item Actions’ drop-down menu.
    11. You should be on the ‘General’ tab now, if you are not, then click on the ‘General’ tab (on the far left).
    12. Type Your User Name in the ‘Summary’ field.
    13. Type related search words in the ‘Keywords’ field if you wish.
    14. Type in whatever you want to share about your creation in the ‘Description’ field but first, type in your User Name here as well.
    15. Type the Credits of product(s) used, including the Fonts name here as well, below your description.
    16. To Edit your description later or re-upload your layout, just click on the ‘Edit Photo’ under ‘item actions’ in the menu on the left or below your image.

You’re done! I know this seems to be lengthy and it’s not very commonly used in the digiscrapping sites/forums but once you got the hang of it, you’ll love it! Remember that you have to be logged in in order to do any of the above steps.

Thanks in advance and I’ll look forward to receiving your ztampfilicious creations there!

Now that you know how, don’t forget to upload your entries for the Week 1 of the Ztampf! 2nd Birthday Weekly Challenges! The deadline is Saturday, 22 Sep. 2007 at midnight of New York time zone. The prize?

3 lucky scrappers will win the following:

Yes, yes, yes, I’ve been quietly working away here for the celebration of Ztampf! 2nd Birthday – that’s why I haven’t been around much! It’s 4:45 a.m. here in Hong Kong and it’s already Sep. 15th! However, since U.S. comprises the largest part of Ztampf! customers, the shop is set on New York time zone. See the nifty new clocks here on the right? You can see Hong Kong time and NY time at a glance. It’s not a coincidence that I picked New York time zone… see how the time difference is exactly 12 hours? Certainly a big help for a mathematically-challenged person like me :).

Anyway… make sure you visit Ztampf! site on the 15th, because… Come and Celebrate!

The Shuffle Sale and Scavenger Hunt at the shop and the Weekly Challenge at Ztampfest Gallery (sponsored by KOLO Albums) will be started on Sep. 15th late morning New York time zone. So check back later! Here are some sneak peeks on new stuff that will be awaiting you there:

Appliquettes No. 1

BowinBows

Gothikology

ArtScene

ArtScene

ArtScene

Naked Edge

What do you think? Do you like them? Want them? Well, if you’re lucky you might find them amongst the Shuffle Sale items ;).

And as for the Scavenger Hunt, just go to Ztampf!Shop to find out how to play along :).

It is a sunny day today, albeit hazy. The weather has started to cool down a bit which is such a pleasant and much welcomed change after the super sticky hot summer days… Autumn is on its way and it is my favorite season in Hong Kong because the weather is just cool, not too humid and not as many rainy days.

I went to the city yesterday! Had to shop for birthday presents: for my dear man, TEO and for my dear friend, YK. So we met up later for dinner at a Tuk Tuk Thai on Graham Street in Central. They serve inexpensive scrumptious Thai food and is one of our favorite restaurants. We had a good laugh and lively conversation over dinner with two of TEO’s colleagues. It was an enjoyable evening!

Here are the 2 layouts I did yesterday – click on the images to see larger versions with detailed info:

Oh and I have just uploaded another version of the Ztampf! CraftyCalendar 2008 Kit: Global English Version with the Weeks start on Monday for UK and Australia. I myself much prefer this version too. I like having my weekends to be cloistered together.

And guess what! Ztampf! 2nd Birthday is coming up next weekend! A celebration is in order and you can be sure that something exciting and fun are brewing ;). So stay tuned!

You’ve guessed it! Ztampf! CraftyCalendar 2008 versions for Swedish, Danish and Dutch are now available at Ztampf!Shop :).

Remember, the 15% OFF coupon code given in my previous entry is valid until midnight Sep. 7th, 2007 – New York Time Zone. Applicable to all language versions of Ztampf! CraftyCalendar 2008! Don’t miss using this saving :).

And… I have another calendar stuff uploaded too:

Ztampf! Perpetual Calendar Templates

This one is available in English only though :).

These super economical calendar templates can be used for any year – perpetually! You will be able to create your very own calendars year after year after year using these simple and yet clever templates. Make use of your existing digital supplies. Great for computer desktop calendar too! Instructions included.

The templates are in PNG format, provided to fit in a 12″x12″ page.
You can easily resize them to fit pages of different sizes i.e. 8″x8″, 7″x5″, 6″x6″, 6″x4″, etc. Pair them each with a scrapbook layout in matching theme for the season; place them side by side, or stack with the calendar at the bottom or vice versa. Embellish further as you wish.

Read more details about this Universal Calendar Templates here.

Now I should take a break from designing calendars for a while…! Not for very long though as 2008 versions of the practical Card Calendar and Poster Calendar Kits are planned to hit the shop around end of this month :).

Any comments and suggestions are always welcome…

Have a good day!
