When my husband and I travel together it's usually one disaster after the other. This happened on a trip to Kenya in 1984. We had been driving on a very narrow, deeply rutted road for several hours when we came to a huge mud hole. It wasn't possible to drive around it and so my husband decided to just plow right through the middle. Naturally we were hopelessly stuck in the mud. When my husband got out of the van to investigate, he was up to his ankles in mud. From out of nowhere a kindly Masai appeared, saw we had a problem, and got right down in the mud to help. An hour passed and the van hadn't budged. Our new friend ran off and a few minutes later reappeared with another good samaritan. All three of them toiled in the mud for another hour, with no success, but finally a truck appeared out of nowhere and was able to pull us out. The two Masai happily posed for a photo before they left us to continue on with our journey.

Wow what a totally cool and awesome outdoor/adventure page this is! Love how to highlight the bird there... Was it really there or was it the 'second' photo? It's nice to hear stories about strangers helping each other too :). Love this page!
